Vancouver’s Steve Kozak and his fabulous WestCoast Blues Revue are fast becoming one of western Canada’s premier Blues acts. For over two decades Kozak has been performing his up-tempo brand of working mans Blues to satisfied audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Hot on the heels of his recently released and critically acclaimed new album the Vancouver native, Blues guitarist/singer songwriter is charged up and ready to get things rolling touring and performing tunes from his latest CD release Hoot ’N Holler.
Playing some great new originals, jumpin’ west coast Blues classics, and rockin’ roots tunes Steve is backed by some of the best talent in Vancouver. Steve and his band serve up plenty of toe tappin’, tail shakin’ tunes that keep dance floors filled with smilin’ folks who keep coming back for more.
Kozak first made his mark in his early twenties and was noticed by Blues fans and his musical peers playing around Vancouver as a member of a band called Bad Habits. In 1991 Steve was the winner of ‘The Battle of the Blues Guitars’ at Vancouver’s renowned Blues venue, The Yale. Since then he has worked with some of the best Blues bands in the Vancouver area playing guitar for 2006 Juno and Maple Blues Award winner, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne, the, Juno nominated, Twisters, as well as V.P. and The Hammerheads, and The R&B King Pins.
Throughout his career Kozak has played with many Blues greats including the legendary, Pee Wee Crayton, Sonny Rhodes, Big Joe Duskin, Eddie ‘The Chief’ Clearwater, James Harman, Mark Hummel, Lee Oskar, Rick Estrin, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne and Rockabilly Guitar legend Evan Johns.
Most recently, in 2009, Steve has played shows with Ace Recording artist from London England, Big Joe Louis, Blues harmonica legend, James Harman and from Chicago Illinois, ‘The Shuffle King’ Tom Holland the guitarist/singer for The James Cotton Band.
Steve was asked to back up harmonica legends, James Harman, Mark Hummel, and Lee Oskar as they performed at a Harmonica workshop at Tom Lee Music’s City Stage in Vancouver in Nov. 2007. (Video clip available on You-Tube ‘Harmonica Legends on City Stage’)
With CD distribution and radio air play world-wide for his latest independent release the word is out and spreading fast that Steve Kozak’s WestCoast Blues Revue are becoming a favorite of Blues fans everywhere.
